COURT IS OVER- ON TO THE NEXT PROBLEM

Yesterday morning we woke up about 8:00 and the phone rang to tell us that we have court at 10:00. Talk about short notice! We were very excited and got ready quickly. The court is only about 1 1/2 blocks from our apartment. The judge was very nice. He asked a couple of questions and then left to make his decision. Caleb James McIntosh is now officially ours. We have to wait for the 10 day waiting period before we can take him.

With the shutdown here for the holidays, we will not be able to take him until Jan. 10th. We will take the overnight train back to Kiev on the 10th and arrive on the 11th. We have a full day of things to be done at the U.S. Embassey before we are cleared to leave. The earliest we can leave will be the 12th of Jan. That brings up the next problem. No room on the plane. I called to get our tickets changed and get one for Caleb and they informed me we can get from Amersterdam to Chicago, but we cannot get from Kiev to Amsterdam. I am still working on this problem. I am very anxious to get home. The women at KLM told me they would not have a ticket for us until Jan. 16th!!! I need to get home!

Caleb was wonderful today. He met us at the door this morning with a big smile on his face. He loves to climb on and under everything. It was nice, so we went outside today. He gets so dirty. I bet the caregivers don't really appreciate us taking him outside all the time, but there is nothing to do inside and he loves to run around. The fresh air does him good. We started giving him drinkable yogurt with vitamins in it. He loves it.

Our translator left last night. We are officially on our own. She will be back on the 10th to get our final paperwork and help us get the train back to Kiev. Please pray for some kind of miracle that we get plane tickets out of here before Jan.16th.

Thanks to everyone who leaves comments for us. We look forward to hearing from people back home. We miss you and we can't wait for you to meet Caleb!

Love
Jim & Jolynn

Congratulations! I hope the wait goes by quickly for you and you continue to bond with your son. I will pray that you get tickets home. I am sure it is hard to be away from your family especially at the holidays. Best wishes for a uneventful trip home.

Mom we want you home. I can't believe that you won't get tickets until Jan. 16th. That is so sad. We want you home very early. We hope you get tickets very soon.

I hope that you guys make it home soon. If you need clothes for Caleb you can use some of Dalton's that don't fit him anymore. Just stop over sometime and you can go through them and pick what you want to use. We miss you guys so hurry up and get back home.

Love,
Jeremy, Charlotte, Kyle, Kane and Dalton

Don't give up on the tickets - keep trying and if you have someone stateside that can make the calls - that sometimes helps. Good luck and I'm praying some seats become available -

Yah!! You're on the downhill push,....Finally!! Just keep telling yourself, each day is one day closer - and tomorrow is closer still. You'll be home before you know it,....and then tax season!! Maybe enjoy your 'time off' now, b/c you won't see it again until June. :)

Love you lots! I'm really happy for you both, and that everything has turned out the way you hoped for! Can't wait to see you and Caleb!

Love, Jenee

Hey mom I see you haven't updated your blog yet. That is ok. I can't wait until I hear from you on Friday because that means that you only have a week until you get home. Yay! Caleb has a very cute voice and he sounds adorable. Wish you were home right now. We are deciding what to bring Caleb when we first meet him. If you have an idea let us know.

Hi Guys,

I heard you had a blog and guess what I found it. I'm glad everything is working out. Congratulations! I bet that you are missing the girls.

My co-worker's husband will be returning to the US on a 6:50 am flight leaving from Kiev. His name it Tim Halbach and he has a little 3 year old boy. Theresa came home early - she was running out of paid time off and wanted to save some time to help her new son adjust to home. Theresa suspects you might be on the same flight. That would be cool if you run into each other. They are in a different area of the country, but your court dates and "freedom" dates are the same. How cool!

Have a great flight home!
